Striking Patterns: Each fish has unique spots and coloration, ranging from olive green to golden yellow, with darker markings across the body and face.
Perfect for Nano Aquariums: Their tiny size makes them ideal for smaller tanks (10+ gallons), although care must be taken with stocking and tank mates.
Social Behavior: Territorial. Best kept either solo or in small, carefully managed groups (recommendation: 3 puffers per 10 gallons, with dense plant cover to reduce aggression).
Compatibility: Best in species-only tanks. Pea Puffers can nip fins and become aggressive toward other species, especially slow or long-finned fish.
Aquascaping: Provide plenty of plant cover, driftwood, and rock formations to establish territories and visual barriers. Floating plants help diffuse light and make them feel secure.
